United States | Yosemite | Yosemite Rock Climbing

The Sentinel is old-school crack climbing at its finest. North-facing, so shady till mid-afternoon, the climbs here are steep, splitter and punishing, as are the approach and descent. Classics are the iconic Steck-Salathé (5.10b – wide, athletic) and Chouinard-Herbert (5.11c – more hand cracks and face climbing, and has many fixed pitons so is considered easier overall than Steck-Salathé). Start early and bring a headlamp!
