Situated high in the canyon north of Tunnel 2, Highlander is a great place to come for some sun and exposure. This wall has a wide variety of classic climbs to keep all skill levels satisfied, even in the winter. Get a Job (5.11b), Blue Sky Mining (5.11d), and Peer Review (5.12b) are all worthy of the hike uphill. With so many tall, classic routes up at Highlander, it is a destination for the winter months. The wall faces south and gets warm temperatures all winter long.
Approach: Situated high on the hillside just east of Tunnel 2, drive 6.0 miles up the canyon and park at a long, narrow pullout on the north (right) side of the road. After parking, walk towards the tunnel to find the approach trail on the north side of the road. Take this trail back east, going downhill past Twitch Rock (p78). The easiest path up the slabs is usually marked by a cairn, which will take you up and eventually move left towards the cliff.
