The steep, awesome walls above and to the left of Top Camp. Together with the Ramparts they form the main amphitheatre of cliffs. There are in fact six distinct faces and the big corners joining these walls form strong natural lines (seen at their best from the Southern Crags). The sun-baked orange rock is faceted with wind scoured pockets and intertwining cracks. All this is capped by a sandwich of successive roofs. The area offers high standard climbing and good rock (although flaky in isolated situations). Variants on many routes rarely detract from their quality.
