Washington Column

United States | Yosemite | Rock Climbing Yosemite Valley

TRADITIONAL

Though dwarfed by Half Dome directly across from it, Washington Column towers over the campgrounds in the east end of the Valley. A clean, approachable mountain that is cut into two distinct halves: the South Face is lower-angled, ledgy terrain, and the East Face with its longer and much steeper, continuous cracks. Dinner Ledge, three moderate pitches up the South Face route, offers the perfect opportunity to explore what sleeping on the wall, or bigwall climbing, is all about.
