Stanley Peak is situated in Kootenay National Park very close to the Banff Park boundary. It is a popular ice climbing venue and its impressive headwall looms over the approach trail into the upper valley. The headwall presents an obvious rock climbing challenge and the inset photograph shows an attractive pillar on the upper wall, as it appears under winter conditions. It is the line of the only rock climb established to date which is a long and serious route (5.10a) called The Stanley Headwall.
